Muay Thai Training

The training at Rim Thalay Muay Thai is molded to suit the individual relative to the general fitness of the person and the experience in Thai Boxing. In other words; you will not be sparing 10 rounds on your first Muay Thai session. Our goal is to teach you as much as possible about this historical martial art in the time you are able to invest, all with the sense of it being fun and fully enjoyable for you. After only a few sessions at the Rim Thalay Muay Thai training center you will feel fit and you might even get addicted to the sport.

Muay Thai Training for Beginners

Thai Boxing Training in Thailand Beginners of Thai Boxing will start with the very basics of Muay Thai. The first things you will learn is how to warm up your body and loosen your joints to avoid injuries. After your warm-up training you will be learning the correct hand positions and after this we will proceed to the correct foot work, the position your feet should be in to give you the best possible stand and the right position to kick. Once you have mastered your hand- and foot work, things will get far more exciting for you. Your personal Thai Boxing Trainer will be teaching you the basic punches and kicks, He will show you how to kick with your knees and how to use your elbows. The next and very important things you will learn in Muay Thai is “clinching” or “grappling”. Furthermore there will be other exercises like shadow boxing,  stretching and finally the warm down. Another part of your Thai Boxing Training will also be timed rounds on kick bags and kick pads with your Personal Muay Thai Trainer. Please also have a look at our Thai Boxing Packages.

Muay Thai Training for Advanced, Experienced and Fighters

Muay-Thai-Training-Steve-Grayson Rim Thalay Muay Thai offers not only Thai Boxing Training for beginners. If you are a fighter already and you are coming to Koh Tao for scuba diving or just to relax, there is no reason to get out of shape. The training for the more advanced martial art fans and for Thai Boxers who have already been in the ring before looks slightly different than the training in thew beginner course. At Rim Thalay Muay Thai you will start with either running or “skipping” which is depending on your choice of morning- or evening training sessions. This will be followed by shadow boxing and timed rounds on the kick bag. There will be 3-5 rounds each 3-5 minutes a round, depending on your condition and fitness. Furthermore we have timed rounds on kick- and knee pads with your personal trainer. The rounds will also be 3-5 rounds 3-5 minutes per round and will be followed by 15-30 minutes clinching and more shadow boxing 3 –5 rounds 3-5 minutes. To finish up a training session we will be doing some stretching and a proper warm down. Furthermore you will learn special techniques for ring fighting and you will participate in timed sparring rounds in our advanced classes .

Real Thai Boxing Fights

Thai Boxing Tournament A very special opportunity, offered only to experienced Thai Boxers at Rim Thalay Muay Thai, is to go the full length and fight in a big stadium in Bangkok, the Metropolis of Muay Thai. Fighting in Bangkok is a unique experience, giving you the confidence you need to fight in any stadium in the world afterwards! For beginners who are fit enough and fighters, with not quite enough experience to fight in such a big stadium in Bangkok we also offer the opportunity to fight at one of the local Thai Boxing Stadiums here on Koh Tao, in Koh Phangan or in Koh Samui. Muay Thai fights for Westerners can go over three rounds of 3 minutes to the full fighting length of five rounds of three minutes, depending on the fighters condition and strength. The rounds in womens Thai Boxing fights are usually shorter then in mens fights.
